Matrixx Initiatives, Inc., makers of Zicam Cold Remedy, today announced the launch of the Zicam Cold & Flu Companion mobile application for the T-Mobile G1.
In time for the start of cold and flu season, this application allows active users to access up-to-date information from any location. The service shows the percentage of sick people in any given zip code, what types of symptoms are most prevalent and which ones to look out for in a specific area. The application also keeps users updated on the latest cold and flu news.
For example, if I type in 98115 into the zipcode I learn that:
- Current Risk Level for SEATTLE today is Low
- 3%-8% of the population is affected by respiratory illness.
- Common symptoms in the area include: Nasal Congestion, Cough, Sore Throat
whereas if you are in Lexington, KY, Albany, NY, Little Rock, AR, Tampa, FL or Jackson, MS you are at a much higher risk to getting sick.
“The Cold & Flu Companion offers an innovative and customizable resource for consumers to prepare for the cold and flu season,” said Tim Connors, vice president of marketing at Matrixx Initiatives, Inc. “Knowing the latest cold and flu news and understanding the cold, flu and cough activity in a localized area can aid consumers in being aware of the risks around them.”
To install the app on your G1 phone:
1. Launch the Android Market application on your phone.
2. Select the “Tools” category.
3. Select the “Cold & Flu Companion” and select Install.
The company says a version for iPhone will be available later this month as well.
