The Nokia Eseries range of handsets has developed over the last few years to become the leading product in the business market. With a focus on quality material and top end features, Nokia have produced a range of handsets that are becoming the envy of many. Following in the tradition we have the Nokia E75. To look at, the E75 seems to be a standard phone with a traditional alpha-numeric keypad, however hidden beneath is a slide out QWERTY keyboard, which when opened automatically rotates the screen into landscape mode. By offering the two different keypad options Nokia are appealing to those who prefer a traditional keypad to knock out a quick SMS and those who prefer the ease of a QWERTY keyboard for lengthy email composition.
Despite the inclusion of the slide QWERTY keypad, the E75 does not compromise on size, measuring just 14.4mm thick. To give that some perspective, thats 7mm slimmer than the very popular N95 8GB and almost matches the E66. The handset weighs in at a comfortable 139g, and incorporates a 16 million colour TFT QVGA 2.4 inch screen, the style of which is very common on most Nokia phones these days.
As a business handset you would expect the Nokia E75 to deliver where it counts most, and that is connectivity. And the E75 does not disappoint. The phone offers a wide variety of connection options, both for network connectivity and connecting the handset to other devices. To start with, the phone offers quad band GSM reception for global voice and text coverage, plus quad band HSDPA Mobile Broadband, so wherever there is a high speed data connection available you can be sure the E75 will deliver. To back this up the E75 delivers Class 32 GPRS and EDGE support, and is also compatible with the High Speed Circuit Switching Data system. And if that is not enough, the E75 delivers with WiFi 802.11 and is compatible with UPnP technology.
Universal Plug n Play (UPnP) is a protocol designed to allow simple and easy integration of various compatible devices, and offer seamless integration of wireless networks, such as for data sharing, communications and entertainment. On top of this the E75 delivers Bluetooth 2.0, and incorporates a micro USB port for file transfer and PC connectivity.
An impressive range of features; but the E75 isn’t just about work. Nokia have designed their recent Eseries phones with a ‘Mode Switch’ option, which allows you to set up the phone for both business and personal usage. During the day whilst using the phone for business you can have your calendar plugged in to your homescreen showing your upcoming appointments, and incoming email can also be displayed. By switching to personal mode the phone offers a totally new homescreen, with work appointments and emails hidden away. Who needs to be reminded about work when it’s time to play? And the E75 is certainly geared up for fun.
The handset includes many features that ordinarily you would expect to find on the more multimedia focussed Nseries range. Firstly Nokia have decided to include a quality camera; instead of the usual ‘Point n Shoot’ 1.3 or 2.0 megapixel affair usually provided on a business phone, Nokia have included a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and VGA resolution video recording. There is also a secondary front facing camera included for video calls.
There is a stereo FM radio included with RDS support, and a well featured media player, which supports MP3, MP4, eAAC+ and WMA files. The Nokia podcasting application can also be used to download and file your favourite podcasts on the move. And finally for a business handset, we see the inclusion of a standard 3.5mm audio output jack, so you can choose to listen to your favourite tunes with your favourite headphones, without the need for an adaptor.
Navigation is also well catered for with the E75, with the inclusion of a built in GPS receiver, and support for aGPS, which helps the handset locate your position faster than just relying on the GPS satellite network. The GPS setup will work with Nokia Maps, and also the excellent, free, Google Maps.
Whichever way you look at it, the Nokia E75 has winner written all over it. From its sleek styling to its top of the range features, the E75 offers the complete package for the mobile professional. Reports are the E75 has a release date of 25th March 2009, available on all networks, check back for updates and the best deals on offer.
